Parking Rules & Safety Policy
Last updated: 6/11/2026
These Parking Rules & Safety Policy (the "Rules") apply to every booking made through ParkLocalDC. They are incorporated by reference into the Terms of Service, Host Agreement, and Renter Agreement. By listing or booking a space, you agree to follow these Rules.
1. Eligible spaces
- Only private, off-street parking spaces may be listed (driveway, private lot, private garage, condo/building deeded space).
- The following are strictly prohibited: public street parking, Residential Permit Parking ("RPP") zones, metered spaces, fire lanes, accessible/ADA spaces (unless the listed user is authorized), loading zones, alleyways used for through-traffic, and any space the Host does not lawfully control.
- Hosts must comply with all HOA, condominium, cooperative, lease, and lender restrictions, including any prohibitions on short-term licensing of parking.
2. Arrival and departure
- Renters must arrive and depart strictly within their booked time window. Early arrival or late departure requires explicit Host approval through the platform.
- Renters must follow the Host's posted access instructions, including any gate codes, lockboxes, or signage.
- If the space is blocked or inaccessible on arrival, the Renter must report it through the platform within 30 minutes for a refund evaluation; do not park elsewhere on the property without permission.
3. Safe and lawful use
- Do not block driveways, alleys, sidewalks, fire lanes, accessible spaces, mail boxes, dumpsters, utility access, or other vehicles at any time.
- Park only a single private passenger vehicle that fits within the listed dimensions and weight limits. No commercial vehicles, RVs, trailers, or oversized vehicles unless the listing explicitly allows them.
- No storage of hazardous, flammable, explosive, or illegal materials. No leaking fluids; Renters are responsible for cleanup costs caused by their vehicle.
- No vehicle maintenance, washing, repair, or detailing on the property without explicit Host approval.
- EV charging is permitted only when the listing explicitly offers it and only with the equipment provided by the Host.
- Renters and their passengers must comply with all federal, DC, and local laws, including the DC Vehicle Code.
4. Listing accuracy and maintenance (Hosts)
- Hosts must keep the listing accurate, including dimensions, height limits, surface type, lighting, security features, and access instructions.
- Hosts must ensure the space is clear, safe, well-lit when overnight stays are allowed, free of obvious hazards, and accessible at the booked time.
- Hosts must respond to platform messages and reported issues in good faith within a reasonable time.
5. Overstays and enforcement
- Unauthorized overstays may be charged at the listed hourly rate plus a reasonable overstay fee disclosed at checkout.
- Subject to applicable DC law, Hosts may arrange towing of overstaying or unauthorized vehicles at the vehicle owner's expense.
- Repeated or serious violations may result in warning, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from the Service.
6. Reporting safety issues
Hosts and Renters must report unsafe conditions, accidents, property damage, theft, or suspected illegal activity through the in-platform "Report" tools as soon as reasonably possible. For emergencies, call 911 first. ParkLocalDC will review reports and may take corrective action, including refunds, payout adjustments, or account action.
7. Insurance
ParkLocalDC does not provide vehicle insurance or property insurance. Hosts and Renters are responsible for maintaining any insurance required by their lease, HOA, lender, auto policy, or applicable law. Personal auto and homeowner/renter policies generally apply to private parking arrangements; consult your insurer if you have questions about coverage.
8. Updates
ParkLocalDC may update these Rules from time to time. The version in effect at the time a booking is made will apply to that booking.
